A Burger Refined

After a few weeks away from "burgering", it is great to be back!   I revisited a local favorite, along with my "burger buddies" who were first-timers at The Refinery Burgers & Whiskey.  I know - great combination, right?  What could go better with a good burger than whiskey?!!  This is pure genius! (They also offer frozen whiskey drinks!!!)

Focus back on the burger - My favorite at The Refinery is their specialty - the "Red Adair", the choice each of us ordered.  This hamburger delight is a bacon-cheeseburger—thick cut jalapeño bacon, jalapeños and sharp cheddar cheese on a pretzel bun.  Ordered medium, and coming out just a tad over-cooked, the mixture of all these ingredients, especially the inspired sweet pretzel bun, was flavor-paradise.  This is one burger where it all came together, and if even one item would have been missing, the burger could not have been as enjoyable.  The applewood jalapeno-smoked bacon was a crispy and tangy flavor explosion. (The fresh and crispy REAL sweet potato fries added to this adventure!)  The juiciness of the hand-formed patties, grilled to near perfection, made my return to the burger worth the wait!

The "Red Adair" burger is one flame than can only be extinguished by eating every last bite!  Just like it's name-sake, with a little "refining", this burger is destined to become a Houston legend.  Red Adair was a famed American Oilwell Firefighter, and he would be proud to have this burger named in his honor.
