Bear of a Burger

Kuma Burger is not known for their convenient location. Nor are they recognized for their convenient hours of operation. Simply because they are located in the obscure Greenway Plaza Underground Food Court, and are only open for lunch on weekdays. But, neither of these are obstacles, as Kuma has a loyal following of satisfied burger loving customers. And, as of last week, they added another one to their list of those who think Kuma is one of the best burgers Houston has to offer.

Queuing up in line with my burger buddy, Scott, I filled out a clipboard menu, building my own burger. While Kuma offers specialty hamburgers, I opted to create one of their Blank Canvas Burgers to my liking with cheddar cheese, bacon, lettuce, onion sambal (spicy) mayo, topped with Kimchi relish. Placing my order, I anxiously awaited my name to be called.

The burger presented was, in my opinion, culinary art. Cheddar cheese melting over a charred-encursted patty, with hints of bacon and Kimchi relish peaking out from the bun. I wasted no time in snapping the photo below, and then feasting on my creation. With that first bite I was greeted with a pleasantly sweet tasting bakery bun. The flavors began to come together with the tangy Kimchi, spicy mayo and the perfectly grilled patty. Both Scott and I concur - this is a bear of a burger from start to finish (Kuma means bear). All of the unique flavor blends complimented each other with a nice balance, with one not over-powering the other.

There's been quite a bit of buzz about Kuma Burgers, and now I know why. You all should definitely discover Kuma Burger, and invite me along on your visit! The lines are often long, as Kuma is only open for lunch during the week.
