Burger Full of Grace

Every once in a white, a restaurant that does not specialize in hamburgers, but offers one on their menu, gets it right. Such is the case with State of Grace in River Oaks. Their sleek classic interior along with the friendly & attentive service were enough impress me, but it was the enticing Butter Burger that had me sold on this recent addition to the  Houston restaurant scene. Chef Ford Fry has created a sensation with his house burger. The Butter Burger, served Carpet Bagger Style is pure decadence. This double patty masterpiece is made with house-ground beef with frozen butter blended in, and is adorned with American cheese, caramelized onions, a slather of mayo and is skewered with a fried oyster on a perfectly grilled bakery bun. The burger is graced by crispy and flavorful bistro-style shoestring fries.

This love at first bite whisked me off to burger heaven. The freshly ground meat was smooth and buttery, juices flowing out of the beautifully charred meat. Each item on the burger became one with every bite. All of the  flavors and ingredients complimented the other like no burger I have ever enjoyed. The added house-smoked bacon to my indulgence enhanced the flavors with just the right amount of spiciness and smokiness. Without hesitation, I highly recommend the Butter Burger at State of Grace. If I had one complaint, it would be that this graceful dish is only served at lunch, and is not a part of their dinner menu. However, I can work on that.
