I've determined that there are two types of great burger places in Houston. There are those establishments that specialize in great burgers, and those who offer a great burger on their menu. Lowbrow falls into the latter category. And, with the lineage of the Eatsie Boys bunch, the expectations here were, indeed, high.
On Black Friday, Susan and I waltzed on over to Lowbrow. I knew I would try their "Juicy Lucy" (the great burger on a menu with salads, sandwiches, and other eclectic fare). I was sure Susan would go for the Kale Salad. But, I was wrong, and she opted for "Ms. Lucy" as did I.
The burgers were served. As I was taking photos of this masterpiece, Susan was cutting hers in half, commenting on how juicy the burger was. Then, all I heard was "THIS BURGER IS INCREDIBLE" from someone (SZR) who is not a regular burger fan as I am. So, I put down my I-phone, and took my first bite. And I never stopped biting/eating until the burger was no more. The flavors, and there were many, were absolutely delicious!
Here's the burger - Fontina and jalapeno stuffed long horn beef patties, arugula, pickled shallots, crispy shallots. Imagine all those flavors at one time on your tongue. Add cheddar cheese and crispy flavorful bacon, and you have the masterpiece that is the Juicy Lucy. DID YOU READ THAT - Fontina and jalapeno STUFFED long horn beef patties!!! The Challah Buns (very popular these days) and hand cut (crispy with meaty tender middle) fries complete the picture. I cannot describe to you the euphoria I felt as I ate this burger - true happiness personified. I was in a "happy" place, and I've been there ever since. I think I found the way towards world-peace - the "Juicy Lucy" from Lowbrow! Go and enjoy one for yourself!
Cheers to Eating More Burgers!
