A recent name change at a favorite burger spot prompted a re-visit to confirm they are still a top local burger destination. I am pleased to report that Burger Chan (cute burger) in Greenway Plaza serves even better burgers than they did prior to their name change from Kuma Burger. Why their name was changed is not important. What matters most is that the burgers served remain exceptional.
The best part of any hamburger is the meat, and Burger Chan's patty is top-notch. Create your own burger, or order from three specialty options. With a 44 Farms beef patty, the charred crust keeps the juiciness in the middle where it belongs. Mine was built from a blank canvas, where I added cheddar cheese, lettuce, red onion and spicy sambol mayo atop a toasted wheat bun. Seeing that cheese melt evenly over the glistening charred patty was only outdone as I took the first bite where juices were overflowing from the center. The bun had a welcome hint of sweetness, contrasting the spicy mayo, and was grilled nicely on both sides.
The burger is served in a paper sleeve, so this experience is not a fancy one. Again, the meat is the most important part of any burger. Burger Chan understands this, and excels in the process. While hidden in the Greenway Plaza food court, this is a true burger find, and worth the trip. Plus, they validate your parking ticket for 2 hours.
Cheers to Eating More Burgers!
