A recent Burger Buddy birthday outing took us to Dry Creek Cafe in The Heights. When chef Rishi Singh joined Dry Creek last year, his first task was to reinvent their burger menu. And what an accomplishment. Reading the burger selection is like poetry. My hamburger choice was the Bavarian Blue, and the description of ingredients made my mouth water.
The Bavarian Blue Burger is 100% Angus Beef, Chirlboga Blue Cheese, cider caramelized onion, and applewood bacon. A luxurious blend of taste, flavors and deliciousness topped with a sweet tasting bakery fresh bun, which was like icing on the cake. The blue cheese was creamy, yet not over powering as it was married with the sweetly tangy onions and perfectly smoked bacon. Cut in two, the gentle pink center reflected a perfectly cooked to medium patty that was begging me to indulge. This was a near perfect burger that was matched a side of delicious broccoli slaw.
Another great part of this burger experience was our knowledgeable waiter, ready to offer suggestions as to which burgers we should try, along with facts to back up his recommendations. From cheese to toppings and spiciness factor, he knew it all. One of my buddies chose The Bernard, and proudly proclaimed this as one of his all-time burger favorites. Topped with 5-year cheddar, cider caramelized onion, applewood bacon, avocado, and smoked jalapeno, he devoured this burger while offering us each a bite to enjoy as well. Dry Creek takes the choices in cheese they serve on their hamburgers, and are we lucky they do. Dry Creek is definitely one of Houston's best burger destinations.
Cheers to Eating More Burgers!
