Hamburgers have certainly found a home on most restaurant menus. A burger is a popular option from steakhouses to Asian cafes. Yes, ethnic-style eateries have jumped on the bandwagon, putting their unique spin on a classic dish.
On a recent lunch with a friend to the Lemongrass Cafe in Bellaire, I was pleasantly surprised to see a Kobe Beef Burger on their lunch menu. There was no other choice to be made, so I ordered mine as cooked, well-done. For those who may not know, Kobe Beef is known for its flavor, tenderness, and fatty, well-marbled texture. The taste comes through in a well-prepared burger.
Presentation is important, and Lemongrass' is flawless. However, it is all about the meat with respect to a fine hamburger, and this burger did not disappoint. The country wheat toasted bun's sweet taste was a nice compliment to the juicy patty. Topped with tart gorgonzola cheese and grilled onions, along with lettuce tomato and bacon, the myriad of flavors came together for one sumptuous creation. A nice treat was the side of grilled pesto vegetables, a welcome departure from the traditional fries offering. Tart on the outside, with a crunchy texture, these morsels were tender and flavorful with each bite.
The Kobe Beef burger from Lemongrass Cafe was a nice surprise. The burger is only served at lunch, so I suggest you head over for your surprise very soon. They really do know that a good burger is all about the meat.
Cheers to Eating More Burgers!
