As I have often written, some of the best burgers are not from burger joints, but from restaurants that feature them on their menu. Offering a hamburger as an option, along with steaks, seafood and other dishes, is gaining popularity. The Classic Burger at the recently re-vamped Relish Restaurant & Bar is an example.
While I included Relish in my 2016 Burger in Review blog, I feel their burger deserves a spot at Eat More Burgers. Relish has evolved from a fresh-food take away favorite to a full-service restaurant located in the heart of the Upper Kirby/River Oaks area of town near the intersection of Westheimer and Kirby. While their entire menu entices, the Classic Burger stands out. House ground beef is adorned with cheddar cheese, coriander onions, aioli, house-made pickles, lettuce and tomato atop a sweet and toasted bakery bun.
Each ingredient complimented the charred-encrusted patty that was prepared the way it should be - medium temperature with a delightful pink center. The juices oozing out added a nice punch with each bite. The hand-cut fries were crispy on the outside, with a tender middle, which is exactly how fries are meant to be served. Along with attentive service and a sleek interior, the lunch visit to Relish for a burger was one of my best decisions made this month.
The burger is also featured on their dinner menu, along with other classics that include Fried Chicken with Tabasco Honey, and Pan Seared Salmon. All are equaly delicious, and I suggest ordering any of these to enjoy a myriad of tasty dishes. But, only after you have enjoyed their burger.
Cheers to Eating More Burgers!
