In my opinion, there is nothing more gratifying than discovering a savory culinary surprise. A recent visit to Brandani's Restaurant & Wine Bar in the southern suburb of Missouri City was certainly worth the drive. While I have enjoyed dining here before, I had never tried their hamburger.
Prominently featured on their menu, the Cheeseburger could seem unassuming. But, once served, this burger was a show-stopper. Topped with white cheddar, red onion, house-made pickles, mayonnaise, lettuce and tomato, the meat - a mixture of prime ground beef and brisket - was the star of this classic favorite. Chef Ron Brandani cooked this burger to my requested temperature of medium, gifting me with a true pink center which was flowing with juices. The charred crust enhanced the taste of the perfectly seasoned patty. The tart pickles adorned evenly melted white cheddar cheese, flanked by a succulent red tomato and shredded lettuce stacked on a freshly baked brioche bun. The variety of flavors came together to present one of the best local burgers I have had in quite awhile. The rich and crunchy thin cut truffle fries accompanying the burger was a delectable side.
Chef Brandani graciously stopped by our table, and his pride for the burger on their menu was evident. Providing a great quality hamburger at a reasonable price is his goal, and one that he surely has accomplished, especially at $10.00. Brandani's is very popular, and the wait can be long, as they do not accept reservations. If you are not able to get there when they open for dinner at 5 pm, I suggest enjoying a glass of wine out on their front patio, or strolling next door to Vino & Vinyl. Once your table is ready, a member of Brandani's stellar staff will come find you and take you back to your table.
PS - Brandani's also makes very good Fried Chicken, but that's an entirely different blog.
Cheers to Eating More Burgers!
