Liberty Kitchen offers a burger on their menu. This is actually my second encounter with their "Liberty Burger". The first time, I remember really enjoying it very much. Let me set the stage - The Liberty Burger is Black Hill Ranch Black Hereford Beef from Kenny, Texas (I like that fact), iceberg, tomato, pickle, cheddar and hickory sauce. I usually omit pickles and tomatos from all my burgers. Those omissions notwithstanding, the second time around, I was not as impressed. The main disappointment (besides that darn over-abundance of iceberg lettuce which I had to remove) for me was the hickory sauce. It enveloped the entire burger, overpowering almost any other taste I could have enjoyed, if all I didn't taste was the hickory sauce. And, it had a very ketchupy taste. As a kid, I ate all my hamburgers plain with ketchup only. Now, I do not like ketchup on my burgers. And, this burger was so strong with their hickory sauce, I cannot tell you about the taste of the meat, except to say that my request for a "medium" temperature was a little underdelivered to the point my "dining partner" asked if her burger (cooked to the same temperature) was dripping with blood. So, the second time around was not as sweet as the first time around. However, Liberty Kitchen is a great restuarant in Houston Heights, with a very cool decor and a great menu with other awesome appetizers and dishes besides the burger. And, they play great music in the background!
Cheers to Eating More Burgers!
