Weather around these parts got pretty extreme yesterday - winds, rain, tornado warnings. But, one Tornado that we welcomed was TORNADO BURGER in Stafford, Texas! This is a burger we have wanted to try for sometime - so, we decided that yesterday would be the day.
To give you a little backstory, Tornado Burger is actually a little bit of a local celebrity, having received accolades as one of the areas best burgers from The Houston Chronicle, Houston Press, and Culture Map. We opted for their Stafford location, but there are other locations around the Houston area.
As soon as we walked in, we ran in to a co-worker of mine from a former job, and his family. George urged us to try Tornado Burger in the past, and today he suggested the Spicy Burger with much enthusiasm. So, off we went to order our burger, and we asked the owner what he suggested - you guessed it - THE SPICY BURGER! Susan and I each ordered one, which came with fries and a drink for $7.40. (Seriously, how does this place stay in business with those prices?!!!!!) Thanks George - great call!
So, here's the burger - Double Meat (Chuck - ground fresh daily with garlic, jalapeno, onion, pepper and other spices ground together), lettuce, light mayo, cheddar cheese and bacon. It truly lives up to it's name - it has a very nice spicy kick that stays with you through every bite. The bun was fresh, and the meat was delicious. I commented to Susan how this reminded me of another local burger joint that served the quintessential classic hamburger. Together with the tasty hand-cut, crispy on the outside/tender inside fries, the meal was awesome. This was truly a delicious hamburger. The staff is friendly, very committed to their burgers, and I would make this a destination for your next comfort hamburger. We will be back.
Cheers to Eating More Burgers!
