Eat More Burgers is excited that our guest blogger, Lindsey (a native Houstonian and current Boston resident), recently visited Wahlburgers near Boston. This is the famed reality-TV restauarant owned by the Wahlbergs - Mark, Donnie, etc. The following is her blog!
When my Uncle Scott told me that Mark, Donnie and Paul Wahlberg had a hamburger restaurant, Wahlburgers, in Boston, I knew I had to try it!. Wahlburgers prides themselves on being "The Best Gourmet Boston Burger"; however, to my surprise it was a 40 minute drive outside of the city, in a cute and up-and-coming area called The Hingham Shipyard.
Walking towards the restaurant I was excited, not just because of the burger or the possibility of running into one of the Wahlbergs, but because I had high expectations for the place - it must be a great burger if there's an A&E reality show on the restaurant, right? It certainly explained why there was a line out the door. There was a 45 minute wait to sit outside, over an hour to sit inside, and about 30 minutes to order out. And, to make the time go by, an employee played Wahlberg trivia.
Luckily, the hour wait was an overestimation and was able to get a table for 2 immediately. After being sat at my table, I had the time to finally take in the atmosphere around me- the chairs as green as the Wahlburgers' logo, tables of families of all ages, a full-service bar. Overall, a happy, loud and fun environment to be in.
The hardest part of my visit was picking which burger to order, so I thought to go with something classic and easy to compare. I ordered "Our Burger," as stated on their menu "our signature burger, the way we do it, the way we love it." It also happened to be Paul Wahlberg's favorite. When it came out, I wasn't disappointed. I only hoped it tasted just as good as it looked. With the first bite, I could instantly taste the fresh artisan bread, Paul's signature Wahl sauce, and the government cheese. The further I got into the burger, I noticed it's non-greasy juiciness, with a perfectly cooked medium-well burger, dill pickles, shredded lettuce (Rusty's favorite), tomatoes, and onions. There's no doubt that Wahlburgers knows how to make a good burger. Even though none of the Wahlbergs have yet to win an Academy award for acting, I would give them all an award for a delicious burger.
Thanks to Lindsey for sharing, and Cheers to Eating More Burgers!
